ARTS EXP’OSION – SUMMER ACTIVITY - 2025

COAP Ministries offers 2 summer arts activity programs for youth organizations that includes 4 different components/activities that are educational, developmental, and fun. These particular programs are for grades K thru 8. The program is “Arts Exp’osion”. We have developed it so it can be a part of an organization’s already planned and scheduled summer camp.

There are two options available.

  • Arts Activity – This option meets 8 times for 2 hours and 15 minutes. It meets twice weekly for 4 weeks. The students will participate in the activities as explained below and will be introduced and exposed to the Arts. This program is for grades K thru 8th grade. You can mix or change out different children over the course of this activity but no more than 24 on any day. You can in fact have 24 children for sessions 1, 3, 5, & 7 and a different 24 children for sessions 2, 4, 6, & 8 or mix the children as you please.

  • Arts & Recital – This option meets 12 times for 2 hours and 15 minutes. It meets twice weekly for 6 weeks. The students prepare to show off what they learn in a recital as they are introduced to the Arts. This program is for 2nd thru 8th grade This activity must have the exact same 24 children from start to finish.

THE PROGRAM ACTIVITIES

1) Music Theory - Children learn how to read music and musical symbols, are taught about famous composers, and engage with our computer music lab that provides an interactive music theory program. The computer music lab does two things for the program: it helps to track student skill and knowledge retention, and it empowers the program to customize the curriculum specifically for each student to provide individualized growth and advancement. This class focuses on working with time signatures and rhythm, so math, especially fractions, is taught alongside music.

2) Piano Instruction - Each child receives beginner piano instruction. Musical scales and drills are used to help each student develop to the point of opening a beginner book and playing on one's own. Each lesson builds upon the previous, and by the 4th lesson students in the *“Arts & Recital” Program are given songs to learn and develop for a recital in week 12.

3) Poetry, Drama, & Inspiration - Students learn to understand basic poetry by reading and discussing poems and poets. They begin to write their own poems and are challenged to memorize one of their poems and share at the *public recital.

4) Painting On Canvas - Students learn to draw, sketch, mix colors, and prepare their canvases. They learn which paint brush to use for specific paints and canvases. The students paint 1 or 2 works of art and the students in the *“Arts & Recital” Program write a sentence about each to share with the audience at the *recital.

Seasonal Theme - Each season we pick a theme to use throughout each instructional area. This creates connectivity and continuity between the instructors and what each is teaching specifically, which also helps students to stay focused on overall tasks. The theme is discussed throughout the season. Themes may include biblical topics, family topics, cultural or holiday seasons. Themes motivate students to move in the direction of purpose and positivity.

The sessions are conducted at your site. We bring everything that is needed. The program minimum is 18 participants up to a maximum of 24 participants.
